UE1002: Intercultural Communications |
2 Cr Hr |
(2,0) 2 ECTS |

The course aims at providing a comprehensive, project-based foundation in the principles and practices of effective intercultural communication. Students will explore the complex relationship between culture and communication, moving from foundational theories—such as the Iceberg Model and the nature of social categorization—to practical frameworks like Hofstede's Cultural Dimensions, which are examined both for their utility and their limitations. The curriculum is designed to develop critical self-awareness, challenging students to identify and deconstruct their own cultural biases and stereotypes. Through the analysis of real-world case studies and predicaments, students will learn to apply semiotic and dialectical thinking to navigate ambiguous situations, manage conflict, and negotiate shared meaning across cultural divides
