Apart of its ongoing collaboration with Jordanian universities to create an environment that enables youth to innovate and unlock their potential, Orange Jordan has inaugurated its Digital Fabrication Lab at the German Jordanian University. This lab is the sixth of its kind under the umbrella of Orange Digital Centers (ODC).
During the opening ceremony, the President of the German Jordanian University, Prof. Ala'aldeen Al-Halhouli, praised the strategic partnership between the university and Orange Jordan, which is implemented through the Deanship of Innovation, Technology Transfer, and Entrepreneurship. He emphasized that this partnership has resulted in programs and training opportunities aimed at developing youth skills in entrepreneurship, innovation, and digital capabilities, in addition to supporting students' ideas and turning them into startups.
For his part, the CEO of Orange Jordan, Mr. Philippe Mansour, expressed his pride in the continuous collaboration with the German Jordanian University, highlighting the achievements of their partnership over the past period. These achievements include signing agreements to enhance the quality of education, inaugurating the Orange Digital Club to develop youth skills and improve their employment opportunities, and now launching the Digital Fabrication Lab as an additional step to amplify these efforts and open new horizons for students.
During the ceremony, both parties explored ways to strengthen their collaboration further. The event also included a visit to the Deanship of Innovation, Technology Transfer, and Entrepreneurship, where its Dean, Dr. Nidal Al-Shawareh, presented an overview of the deanship’s goals and its role in fostering a culture of innovation, creating a supportive environment for students and staff, and transforming their creative ideas into startups.
The new lab will provide students with a unique gateway to the digital world through the advanced technologies available within it. It will also offer free courses to enhance their skills in design and initial prototyping using the latest software, as well as enable participants to fabricate prototypes using advanced manufacturing techniques.
It is worth noting that the opening ceremony was attended by members of Orange Jordan’s executive committee, several administrators from the German Jordanian University, and representatives from various media outlets.
